Micat – Moreton Island Ferry

Vehicle and walk-on ferry to Moreton Island run by Moreton Island Adventures, sailing from a terminal at Port of Brisbane. The crossing takes about 90 minutes and the boat has a licensed bar and food service on the saloon deck.

The operator's own booking advice: "Bookings are essential for both passengers and vehicles on the Micat. If you're planning on taking your 4WD over for a weekend, or a long weekend during summer, we recommend booking at least four weeks in advance to get the best ferries. We recommend booking your walk-on tickets a week prior to travel, and if you're travelling in school holidays, at least two weeks prior. If you're looking to travel in the September, Easter or Christmas QLD school holidays, or Easter itself, we recommend booking six months in advance." Moreton Island National Park permits are separate; campers are advised to check campsite availability with National Parks before booking the ferry.

    Walk-on and vehicle crossings from Port of Brisbane to Moreton Island, approximately 90 minutes each way. Bookings are essential for both passengers and vehicles. Fares are quoted through the operator's booking system rather than published as a price list.

  • Terminal parking$20 per group

    "We offer secure parking starting from $20 per day at our terminal. There is the option to pre-book the parking here, but unfortunately this is very limited and we often sell out on weekends. We recommend car pooling or ride share. We have drop off zones just as you drive in the gate to make it easier to pick up and drop off passengers."

  • Sandboarding on Moreton Island$9 pp

    Published on the operator's day tours page: "$9 - Sandboard from Castaways (own transport required)" and "$50 - Sandboard and transport with Sunset Safaris". "Sandboards are available onboard Micat on your journey over. It's a 30 minute trip to the sand hill from the Micat launch."

  • Night kayaking over the Tangalooma Wrecks$60 pp

    Guided night kayak in transparent LED-lit kayaks over the Tangalooma Wrecks, offered through Moreton Island Adventures and Sunset Safaris. "This is a fully guided tour with all equipment provided. National Park Laws do not allow us to offer unguided hire of equipment, (wind, weather & tidal conditions apply)". Meeting place is the Tangalooma Wrecks — you make your own way to the island via the Micat. Published prices: Adult $60, Child $50, Student/Backpacker $55.
