Riverside maritime museum in a working dry dock beneath the Goodwill Bridge at the southern end of the South Bank Parklands, where you can walk the decks of the WW2 frigate HMAS Diamantina and the Carpentaria light ship.

"Tickets are available at the front entrance." Accessibility, in the museum's own words: "QMM has ramp or lift access in most parts of the museum – inside the building and in its grounds (although there is some rough ground in places). Disabled access onto HMAS Diamantina is restricted to the main deck while no disabled access is possible into the Dry Dock, or onto our vessel Penguin. Please contact the Museum with any concerns or special needs and we will try our best to meet those needs." A baby change room is on the ground floor of the main building. Group visits and school visits are arranged separately through the museum.

The story
"Visit one of Australia's largest maritime museums and discover historic vessels of all shapes and sizes. It's a great place to visit for the whole family and the children especially enjoy exploring our BIG exhibits such as the warship Diamantina and the lugger Penguin." The museum's stated vision is "To connect people with the maritime heritage of Queensland and the world", and the Queensland Maritime Museum Association celebrated 50 years of safeguarding maritime history in Queensland in 2021. The collection also holds Ella's Pink Lady, the Carpentaria light ship, Fury, Happy II, small boats, lighthouses, marine engines and ship models, alongside the dry dock itself.

"An underground car park is available in the South Bank Parklands, with a 5 minute walk to the Museum."
"Frequent bus services to numerous Brisbane southern and south-eastern destinations pass the Museum. Disembark at Mater Hill or South Bank bus stops." Trains on the Beenleigh and Cleveland lines stop at South Bank Station. "The Museum is within close walking distance of City Cat ferry terminals and the City Hopper ferry terminals." It sits at the southern end of the South Bank Parklands at the Goodwill Bridge, an easy walk from the CBD across the pedestrian-only bridge.
