The story

This iconic venue has been at the heart of our city's story since 1888, when renowned architect Richard Gailey brought it to life. Nestled beneath the majestic Story Bridge, this isn't just a pub – it's a living piece of Brisbane's history. The Shelter Bar was built from the remnants of an old WWII bomb shelter.
